NoASOG | Against the Delusion that Surveillance and Militarization Create Security

In the end of 2025, the Berlin Senate drastically tightened Berlin’s police and public order law. Specifically, it concerns the revision of the General Security and Public Order Act (ASOG). According to this, the Berlin law enforcement authorities are now allowed to act even more harshly and secretly, with increased powers, in more places, and with the use of new surveillance technologies.
Legal challenges are still possible, but if this obsession with control prevails, it means saying goodbye to privacy, freedom of movement, and secure communication.

The direction is clear. What the authorities call „security“ means displacement, surveillance, and repression for many people in Berlin.

While millions in funding are being cut from social organizations and cultural institutions, causing the collapse of social structures, immense resources are flowing into the expansion of dystopian surveillance technologies. Protest and marginalized groups are being criminalized, and personal rights are under attack. Through tightening measures at the EU and federal levels, these intensifications are set to continue in Berlin and other federal states.

This policy of massively expanding state surveillance and control tools is driving the authoritarian shift forward. It is turning security agencies into the central instrument for enforcing racist, patriarchal, and neoliberal violence. The diverse social issues affecting the people in this city are being ignored.

We strongly oppose this policy of surveillance, repression and control.
For the preservation of safe spaces and
the organization of resistance.

Stay safe, stay rebel!
